Newcastle racecourse to hold first live sports event

Horse Racing : Racing is the first sport to return in the UK, as Newcastle Racecourse holds 10 races behind closed doors.

Newcastle Racecourse’s all weather track will host 10 races on the day that live sport returned to the UK following almost 3 months of lockdown and social distancing.

The 10 races will be held behind closed doors in accordance with government policy, but should provide some welcome relief for those that work in the industry and for people at home who have been starved of sporting action for many weeks.

Racing has worked hard to prove that it can put strict protocols in place to reduce the risk of infection amongst participants and administrators, and as such has gotten the green light to be the first sport to recommence business.

Newcastle Racecourse has a reasonably new all weather track, which following the hot weather will be the perfect surface to recommence racing on. Enjoy the return of live sport!

All races will be live on Sky Sports Racing.
